If you have ever wondered which flowers hotels use in their corridors, this is one of them. Alstroemeria lasts longer than almost anything else cut — often a fortnight or more — and it keeps opening new blooms from the same stem rather than fading all at once. Each stem carries a cluster of small lily-shaped flowers, freckled at the throat, so a bouquet has far more individual blooms than the stem count suggests. In pink it is bright without being loud. - Trim the stems at an angle to help them absorb water.
- Place them in clean, fresh water right away.
- Remove any leaves below the waterline to keep the water clean.
- Change the water every 2 days and re-cut the stems.
- Keep the flowers in a cool spot, away from sunlight and heat.
