White is the colour that survives bright light

Anywhere the flowers will end up in pictures — a venue with spotlights, a photographer using flash, a hotel ballroom, a shopfront window at midday — red roses lose their structure. The dark folds close up and a hundred red heads read in a photo as one flat mass. White does the opposite. Each petal edge keeps a visible line, so the shape of the bouquet still holds at a distance and on camera. Keeping them fresh

In Dubai the air conditioning does more damage than the heat. Dry moving air draws water out of the petals faster than the stems can pull it back up, so keep the vase away from vents and out of direct sun coming through glass. Change the water every two days and trim the stem ends at an angle. Fresh roses last 5-10 days.

No. It needs a wide, heavy vase with a broad neck, or split the stems between two vases.

How long will the roses last?
Five to ten days with clean water, a fresh trim, and the vase kept clear of AC vents.
