A note on pre-ordering. 14 February is the single busiest day of the year for every florist in Dubai, ours included. Delivery slots on the day fill up, and the most popular arrangements sell through. If you already know you are sending flowers on Valentine's Day, place the order early and select your delivery date and time slot at checkout — it costs nothing extra and it removes all the risk. Ordering in January for a February delivery is completely normal, and it is what our most organised customers do every year.
How to Choose Valentine's Day Flowers
Most Valentine's advice stops at "send red roses." That is a fine default — but here is what actually separates a bouquet that lands from one that is merely received.
Red roses are a statement, and the stem count is the statement. The number is read, whether or not you intended it. A single red rose is romantic, deliberate and quietly confident — and starts from AED 7. Twelve is the classic declaration. Twenty-four, fifty and a hundred escalate from "I love you" to "I want everyone in the room to know." There is no wrong number, but pick it on purpose. Start at rose bouquets or a single wrapped rose.
Colour changes the message more than most people realise. Red is unambiguous romantic love. Pink is affection, admiration and tenderness — often the better choice in a newer relationship, where red can feel like it is moving faster than the relationship is. White is elegant and reads as devotion and sincerity. Peach and champagne tones are romantic without being loud, and photograph beautifully — see spray roses. Mixed brights are cheerful but not especially romantic; save those for birthdays.
Match the flower to her taste, not to the tradition. If she has a minimal, modern home, a structured flower box arrangement or tulips will delight her far more than a conventional rose bunch. If she loves soft, romantic, garden-style flowers, look at peonies, hydrangeas or lisianthus. Someone who actually notices flowers would rather receive her favourite bloom than the default one.
When to go bigger. A first Valentine's together, a proposal, an apology, or a year when you have been travelling and absent — these are the moments to scale up. What not to send. Don't send white lilies — the funeral association is too strong across the cultures represented in Dubai. Don't send a wrapped bouquet to a hotel, restaurant or office where she has no vase and no time; send a box or a vase arrangement instead. And don't order at 9:45 PM on 13 February and assume it will be fine — that is the one night of the year when the margin for error is thinnest.

Making Them Last
Roses are dramatic when they are happy and dramatic when they are not. They reward about ten minutes of attention on arrival.
- Unwrap and re-cut immediately. Take 2–3 cm off each stem at a 45-degree angle, ideally under running water. Roses seal their cut ends quickly; a fresh angled cut reopens the pathway that lets them drink.
- Strip all leaves below the waterline. Leaves left underwater rot within a day and breed the bacteria that blocks the stems. This one step does more for vase life than anything else.
- Use a clean vase and deep water. Roses drink far more than people expect in the first 24 hours — check the water level the next morning and top it up.
- Change the water every two days and rinse the vase each time. Cloudy water is a warning sign, not a cosmetic issue.
- Fight the Dubai climate. Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from the direct blast of an AC vent — dry moving air dehydrates petals fast. Keep them off the kitchen counter, away from ripening fruit, whose ethylene gas ages flowers prematurely.
- Revive a drooping rose. If a rose bends at the neck, it is an air lock, not death. Re-cut the stem and stand it in deep water in a cool place for an hour — they very often come back.
Do not remove the outer petals of a rose because they look bruised — those "guard petals" are the flower's own packaging and are protecting the perfect petals underneath.
