Choosing a Colour by Occasion
- Anniversary or proposal — red. For a long marriage, red mixed with pink reads as affection rather than declaration.
- Valentine's Day — red, overwhelmingly. Order ahead for 14 February.
- Birthday — pink, yellow or mixed. Red only if it is a partner.
- Thank you — deep pink or peach.
- Congratulations or graduation — orange, yellow or white.
- Get well soon — yellow or pink, and keep the scent light if it is going to a hospital room.

Making Roses Last
Every colour behaves the same once cut: expect five to ten days. Re-cut each stem 2–3 cm at an angle on arrival, strip any leaf that would sit below the waterline, and change the water every two to three days.
In Dubai the biggest threat is air conditioning rather than heat. Dry moving air pulls moisture out of the petals faster than the stems can replace it, so keep the vase clear of any vent and out of direct sun through glass. Paler roses — white, peach and blush pink — show bruising and browning sooner than red does, so they benefit most from getting this right.
