Baby's Breath Bouquets Dubai

For decades baby's breath was the filler — the fluffy white stuff tucked in behind the roses. Then someone took the roses out, and it turned out that a bouquet made entirely of gypsophila is one of the most beautiful things you can hand somebody: a soft white cloud, weightless-looking, quietly dramatic. It has become one of the most requested bouquets in Dubai, and we build every one of ours by hand.

About Baby's Breath

Baby's breath is Gypsophila paniculata — hence "gyp" or "gypsophila", the names you will hear florists use. Each stem branches into hundreds of tiny white flowers, and a good cut variety is bred for density, which is why a proper gypsophila bouquet reads as a solid cloud rather than a sparse spray.

It symbolises everlasting love, innocence and purity, and it carries a strong association with new beginnings — which is why it turns up at weddings more than anywhere else, and why it works so well for engagements, a new baby, or a first date. It is also, usefully, a bouquet with no romantic obligation attached: white gypsophila is just as appropriate for a friend, a colleague or a thank you as it is for a partner.

Beyond classic white, it takes dye beautifully — tinted gypsophila in blush pink, dusty rose, lilac and blue is genuinely popular, and the colour is absorbed through the stem, so it looks natural rather than painted. Pink and white together is our most-requested combination.

It pairs with almost everything, which is its other great strength: with roses it softens hard edges and adds volume; with eucalyptus it becomes modern and green; on its own it becomes the whole point.

One honest note: gypsophila has a distinctive scent that not everyone loves — slightly musty or hay-like up close. It is faint and it fades within a day or two in the vase, but it is worth knowing before you send it to someone sensitive to smells.

How Long Do They Last?

Fresh in a vase, expect 7 to 14 days — baby's breath is a tough, wiry flower and it holds up better than most.

But here is the thing that makes gypsophila special, and almost nobody mentions it: it dries beautifully. Instead of throwing the bouquet away, hang it upside down in a dry, shaded spot for a week or two — not in the sun, and not under an AC vent — and it will dry into a permanent arrangement that keeps its shape and colour for months or even years. It is the only bouquet we sell that you genuinely do not have to say goodbye to. Many customers dry their wedding gypsophila and keep it indefinitely.

Dubai care, while it is still fresh. Our climate hits cut flowers from two sides. Heat ages them fast — keep the vase out of direct sunlight and never leave flowers in a hot car. Air conditioning is the sneakier problem: AC air is very dry and pulls moisture straight out of the blooms, so never place the vase under or in front of an AC vent. It is where people naturally put flowers, and it is the fastest way to ruin them.

  • Re-cut the stems at a 45° angle on arrival and every few days — gypsophila stems are woody and seal over quickly.
  • Change the water every 2–3 days. Bacteria block the stems, and blocked stems are what kills flowers in this climate.
  • Strip the lower foliage so nothing sits rotting below the waterline.
  • Keep it away from ripening fruit — the ethylene gas ages the tiny blooms quickly.
  • Gypsophila drinks more than you would expect for its size. Check the water level daily, not just when you change it.
