How to Choose Anniversary Flowers
Red roses are the default, and defaults exist for a reason. Red is the one colour that carries romantic meaning without any ambiguity at all, which is exactly what you want on an anniversary. If you are choosing quickly and want to be certain it lands, choose red roses and put your effort into the size and the card instead. See rose bouquets.
Let the stem count do the talking. Numbers are the easiest way to make a standard bouquet feel specific. A dozen roses is the classic first-anniversary gift. Matching the count to the year works beautifully up to about twenty-five. Beyond that, the convention shifts to grand round numbers — 51 and 101 roses for the anniversaries that genuinely deserve a moment.
Moving away from red. Pink roses read as affection and admiration rather than passion, and suit a long marriage well. White is elegant and formal — a good choice for a milestone year, and it photographs beautifully. Peach and lavender are softer and less expected, which is often the point after fifteen years of red. Lilies bring scent and scale that roses cannot match.
Think about where it will actually arrive. If it is going to an office, a restaurant or a hotel, send a flower box or a vase arrangement — both arrive finished, with no vase to find and no stems to trim. Making Them Last
Most of a bouquet's lifespan is decided in the first hour. Unwrap the flowers on arrival, re-cut every stem 2–3 cm at an angle, and strip any leaf that would sit below the waterline. Change the water every two days.
In Dubai the two things working against you are heat and air conditioning — and the second catches almost everyone out. AC air is extremely dry and pulls moisture straight out of the petals, so keep the vase well away from a vent, and out of direct sun through glass. Keep flowers off the kitchen counter too: ripening fruit gives off ethylene gas, which ages them fast.
